Authorities mentioned they believe alcohol may have played a role in the crash. If this is true, it could make things a lot more complex than a typical car accident. That’s not simply due to potential drunk driving charges. It could also involve a local alcohol provider if they illegally over-served someone.
While authorities don’t usually go beyond the crash scene, alcohol providers can be held responsible if they over-serve someone and it leads to people getting hurt. Whether that’s a bar, liquor store, or gas station, establishments contributing to serious accidents need to answer for their actions just as drunk drivers answer for theirs. So while it isn’t clear right now if that’s even a factor here, it’s something to keep in mind when considering if authorities are really giving the crash the attention it deserves.
