Tuskahoma, OK — July 2, 2025, Ely Smith was fatally injured and Brad Lewallen, Cash Collins, and others were hurt in a fireworks explosion accident.
Reports say that the incident happened on the Choctaw Nation capitol grounds.

It appears that Ely Smith, Brad Lewallen, Cash Collins, and others were working to deliver fireworks at a location on the Choctaw Capitol grounds in preparation for a fireworks show scheduled for the following day. They were reportedly in a cabin when something caused an explosion. A fire then ensued.
Reports say that Ely Smith was seriously injured. He underwent care until July 8, when he reportedly died due to his injuries. Brad Lewallen and Cash Collins both also were reportedly left in critical conditions. Two others had less serious injuries, reports say.
At this time, no further information can be confirmed.

With such a chaotic series of events, there will no doubt need to be extensive investigations to make sure the victims and families involved here get answers. Hopefully authorities are treating this as a top priority and get to the bottom of what went wrong and how future incidents can be avoided.
