Montgomery County, TX — June 7, 2024, Elouise Cruz was injured following a car accident shortly before 11:45 a.m. along Interstate Highway 45.
According to authorities, 79-year-old Elouise Cruz was traveling in an eastbound Toyota Rav4 on Gladstell Road at the I.H. 45 intersection when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that as a northbound Hyundai Equus was allegedly attempting to avoid law enforcement, it neglected to stop for the red light indicated by the traffic signal, entering the intersection at an apparently unsafe time. This resulted in a collision between the Hyundai and the Toyota. The impact caused the Hyundai to veer to the right where it was involved in a secondary collision with a westbound Buick Encore before coming to a stop after crashing into a signal light. After coming to a stop, the two occupants of the Hyundai reportedly fled the scene on foot.
Cruz suffered suspected serious injuries as a result of the wreck; she was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
