Anderson County, TX — November 23, 2023, an Elkhart teenager was injured after an alleged drunk driver accident at around midnight on County Road 103.
Investigators said that the incident occurred in the area of County Road 103 and County Road 106.

According to officials, a 16-year-old was in a Ford F-150 going southwest along the roadway. At a curve in the road, it appears the pickup ran off the side of the road, crashed through a fence line, and came to a stop in a pasture.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Authorities say the teen had a half empty bottle of Jack Daniels and allege he was possibly drinking prior to the accident. If that’s true, I hope authorities are diligently looking into where the alcohol came from. I ask that question after just about any drunk driving wreck due to the fact bars and other establishments can be responsible for contributing to a serious accident. But when it comes to minors, the law is rather unique.
Essentially, if someone provides alcohol to a minor, and that leads to injuries, those people can end up facing both criminal charges and civil liability. Whether it’s a business, an older friend or family member, or some other individual providing alcohol to minors, Texas law takes that very seriously, and it allows for rather significant punishments to ensure that person is held accountable.
Whether or not authorities are holding anyone accountable here remains to be seen.
