Frio County, TX — February 1, 2024, Elisandro Posada Sanabria was injured in a bus accident at approximately 2:00 a.m. along Interstate Highway 35.
According to reports, 49-year-old Elisandro Sanabria was traveling in a northbound Toyota Corolla on I.H. 35 in the vicinity south of the Farm to Market 1583 over pass when the accident took place.
The Corolla was apparently traveling in the left of two northbound lanes of the interstate. Officials indicate that, for unknown reasons, the Corolla failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It reportedly veered left, collided with the guardrail, and came to a stop in the center of the two lanes. A bus that had been traveling in the right lane of the freeway then collided with the back of the Corolla before veering left and striking a concrete barrier on the left shoulder.
The collision with the bus caused the Corolla to swing into the guardrail on the right side of the road, with its front end partially blocking the right-hand lane. An 18-wheeler which had been traveling in that lane then struck the Corolla, as well.
Sanabria incurred suspected severe injuries as a result of the wreck. He was transported to a local medical facility by emergency medical services in order to receive immediate treatment. No other injuries have been reported.
