Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

When people hear about crashes like this one, it’s easy for them to assume they are a result of simple driver error. However, in my experience, accidents involving large trucks often require thorough investigations to understand all contributing factors.

In this incident, the truck reportedly failed to stop at a flashing red light, leading to a devastating collision. It’s crucial to determine whether the driver’s actions were a result of negligence, distraction, or something more complex. Investigators should explore if the driver was fatigued, under the influence, or faced mechanical issues that could have prevented the truck from stopping in time. Each of these elements can play a significant role in accidents involving large trucks.

Additionally, the company responsible for the dump truck may share in the accountability for this incident. If the company failed to enforce safety protocols, properly train their drivers, or ensure that their vehicles were in good working order, they could be held liable for their role in the crash. Thorough investigations should consider these possibilities to ensure that all responsible parties are held accountable.

Ultimately, the goal is to uncover the truth and provide answers to those affected by the crash. Even if it requires conducting an independent investigation to obtain vital evidence, it is crucial to consider every factor to ensure that those impacted by the crash receive the clarity and closure they deserve.
