Maroa, IL — August 2, 2023, Edgar Bailey was killed following a commercial truck accident at around 7:53 a.m. along Route 51.
Preliminary information about the accident shows that it happened at the intersection of U.S. Route 51 and Wise Road.
Details suggest that 44-year-old Edgar J. Bailey was on a motorcycle that was going southbound at the time. Approaching the Wise Road intersection, police say that a northbound semi-truck made a left turn onto Wise, and the truck and the motorcycle collided as the truck made the turn.
Due to the collision, Bailey sustained injuries which ultimately proved to be fatal. No other injuries were reported. Authorities said the truck driver would be cited for failure to yield. They did not say if there were any other pending charges or citations. Investigations are ongoing.
