Gillespie County, TX — November 12, 2024, a teenager was injured in a dump truck accident shortly before 8:30 a.m. along U.S. Highway 290.
According to authorities, a 17-year-old girl was traveling in an eastbound Hyundai Santa Fe on U.S. 290 in the vicinity east of the Usener Road intersection when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a westbound dump truck attempted a left turn onto a private drive at an apparently unsafe time, failing to yield the right-of-way on a left turn. This resulted in a collision between the front-end of the SUV and the right-side of the dump truck.
The girl from the Santa Fe suffered serious injuries over the course of the accident, according to reports; she was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment.
