Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

When accidents like this occur, it’s easy to think they might just be the result of a simple mistake. However, based on my experience, crashes involving large trucks tend to have deeper causes that require thorough investigation.

In this particular case, it’s unclear what led to the collision between the two 18-wheelers, but several factors could have played a role. Mechanical failures, driver fatigue, or road conditions are just a few possibilities that need to be explored. Given the size and weight of commercial trucks, even a minor oversight can result in serious consequences, and determining exactly what happened is essential.

When two commercial vehicles are involved in an accident, it’s also worth considering the responsibilities of the companies that own and operate the trucks. Trucking companies are responsible for ensuring their drivers are well-trained, that vehicles are properly maintained, and that routes allow for enough rest time to prevent driver fatigue. If either company failed to meet these obligations, they could share some of the blame for the crash.

Ultimately, the goal is to uncover the truth and provide answers to those affected by the crash. Even if it requires conducting an independent investigation to obtain vital evidence, it is crucial to consider every factor to ensure that those impacted by the crash receive the clarity and closure they deserve.
