Hidalgo County, TX — March 28, 2024, a Donna woman was injured following a possible drunk driver accident at around 11:10 p.m. along Val Verde Road.
According to investigations, the collision happened at the intersection of Val Verde Road and West Sioux Road.

Investigators said that a 20-year-old Donna woman was in a Chevy Tahoe going northbound on Val Verde. At Sioux, a southbound Toyota Tacoma failed to yield making a left turn, crashing with the Tahoe. As a result, the Donna woman had serious injuries while a passenger had possible minor injuries. The driver of the Tacoma had less serious injuries.
Authorities say that the Tacoma driver may have been drinking, but they say they’re waiting for a subpoena to see blood test results. That’s always an important detail to have, but it’s not the only piece of information that can help prove intoxication.
For example, we’ve had hundreds of personal injury cases against alcohol providers for over-serving an obviously intoxicated person that causes an accident. When we have to prove that person was intoxicated when being over-served, we’re able to use things like receipts, credit card statements, witnesses, security video, medical expert testimony, and even texts and social media posts. That can all combine to provide a solid foundation which shows in multiple different ways whether or not intoxication contributed to an accident.
Generally speaking, authorities don’t like to move forward without a BAC because it gives a lot of weight to a criminal case, whereas civil cases have a lower legal standard to overcome. It would be prudent, though, if authorities used the time waiting for blood test results to look into those other possible pieces of evidence. That way, they can make sure they have no questions about what went wrong here and who all may be responsible.
