Montgomery County, TX — November 6, 2024, Dominick Williams died in a single-vehicle accident on Farm to Market Road 1960 in Montgomery County.
Authorities say the incident happened around 6:20 p.m. on the 13400 block of FM 1960. Preliminary investigation suggests Dominick Williams was driving a Dodge Challenger east on the roadway when he passed another eastbound vehicle. He allegedly lost control during the maneuver and the Challenger drove onto the north shoulder, then hit the end of a metal guardrail. After the impact it spun through a ditch, then hit a utility pole and overturned.

Dominick Williams was ejected during the rollover and suffered critical injuries. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Little as I like saying it, single-vehicle accidents don’t always get the proper investigation they deserve. Why? Because many people treat them like the only real explanation is that the driver made a mistake. In the Montgomery County accident, for example,
That has to be accounted for like any other potential cause, but it’s certainly not the only explanation. Fault should never be assumed or assigned before all the facts are known. What if there’s more to the story? Things like slick roads, tire blowouts, medical emergencies, and vehicle defects may not be all that common compared to some other factors, but they all cause crashes every single day—and they shouldn’t be ignored by investigators.
If I’ve learned one thing over decades in this business it’s that the truth is rarely as simple as a preliminary report makes it seem. Unfortunately, an accident’s complexities are often missed during a “by the book” police investigation. That’s a big problem if it means the victim’s family won’t get the whole story; will someone make sure that doesn’t happen here?
