Cameron County, TX — June 24, 2023, Diane Zapata was injured following a car accident that happened at approximately 9:47 p.m. on Padre Boulevard.
Preliminary details about the crash released by authorities indicate that it took place in the area of Padre Boulevard and Red Snapper Street.
Authorities suggested that 53-year-old Diane Zapata was a passenger in a Dodge Ram 1500 that was going southbound along Padre Boulevard. Police believe Zapata got out of the vehicle due to an argument with the driver. While outside of the vehicle, authorities allege the driver accelerated and ran over Zapata’s foot, then left the scene.
Zapata’s injuries were not specified, however statements list the injuries as ‘incapacitating’. No other injuries were reported. At this time, it appears the driver was arrested and is accused of assault as well as drunk driving. No further information is available at this time.
