Madison County, IL — January 1, 2025, one person was killed following a pedestrian versus truck accident at approximately 11:15 p.m. along Interstate Highway 55.
According to authorities, a 26-year-old man was walking on the shoulder of I.H. 55 in the vicinity of Collinsville when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the pedestrian went from the shoulder into the active lane of the interstate. There, he was reportedly struck by an 18-wheeler, incurring fatal injuries. He was declared deceased at the scene by a county coroner. No other injuries have been reported.
