Galveston, TX — November 1, 2024, Derek Hudson and Michael Beatty were killed following a motorcycle accident that occurred at around 11:25 P.M. on Ave J.
An investigation is underway into a car accident that left two people deceased. It happened during the evening hours of November 1st. According to official reports, Michael Beatty was traveling on a Harley Davidson on Ave J in the eastbound lanes. Derek Hudson was on another motorcycle going westbound Beatty was reportedly making a U-Turn at the 27th Street intersection when Beatty’s motorcycle and Hudson’s motorcycle collided.
Both riders ultimately died as a result of the collision. At this time there has been no further information released about the accident.

Hopefully, investigations into this incident were taken seriously. Motorcyclists frankly don’t get a lot of attention from authorities. There’s a lot of negative biases surrounding riders, so officers may be quick to jump to conclusions or move on without getting the whole story. That’s when victims’ loved ones have to find more thorough independent investigators who can put that bias aside and let the facts speak for themselves. Maybe authorities have been able to do this behind the scenes so the families get the answers they deserve. In my experience, though, it’s not prudent to take that for granted.
