Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

With single-vehicle wrecks, it’s important early details are always taken with a grain of salt. Not every department prioritizes single-vehicle wrecks, so details can easily slip through the cracks without thorough independent investigations. People sometimes just assume these crashes are always due to driver error, but there can also be factors like mechanical issues, tire failure, road hazards, poor road design, hit-and-runs, medical conditions, etc. So if victims and families affected by a crash find that these potential factors are being adequately addressed, it’s likely because authorities are doing good investigations. But if folks feel there are still unanswered questions and doubts, it may be that authorities efforts alone are falling short.
