Justin, TX — December 7, 2023, Deandre Jerri Harper was killed as the result of a train accident that happened around 6:00 p.m. along F.M. 407.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the crash happened off the corner of the F.M. 407/East 5th Street and F.M. 156 intersection, and it involved an Amtrak passenger train with approximately 54 occupants.
According to Tarrant County officials, 35-year-old Deandre Harper was the driver of a vehicle going along East 5th. Somehow, while the car was on the tracks, an Amtrak train hit the vehicle, killing Harper. There were no reported injuries from the train.
At this time, no further information is available other than Justin Police officials saying they do not think alcohol was a factor. They did not mention anything regarding the crossing guards or signals nor other possible contributing factors.
