Bell County, TX — December 19, 2023, David Ross Smith was killed following a single-vehicle accident at around 10:41 a.m. along F.M. 116.
Authorities said in their statements that the accident took place near mile marker 388 of F.M. 116, south of Copperas Cove.
According to officials, 62-year-old David Ross Smith was in a Toyota 4Runner going southbound on F.M. 116. For reasons which are unclear right now, the vehicle ended up going off the right side of the road where it began to skid before flipping over.
Following the crash, Smith was pronounced deceased. There did not appear to be anyone else involved in the wreck. Authorities suggested that a medical episode may have contributed to the crash, but this and other factors can’t be confirmed at this time.
