Presidio County, TX — August 21, 2023, David Lee Hinojos was killed following a car accident at around 6:16 p.m. along Golf Course Road.
Public information from authorities says that the crash happened just east of Marfa near Antelope Hills road. It appears that 35-year-old David Lee Hinojos was in a Chevy Suburban going eastbound on Golf Course Road. At a curve, police say the vehicle continued straight off-road and overturned. As a result, Hinojos was killed.
Authorities have reported suspected contributing factors to the crash.

I want to be clear up front this has yet to be confirmed, and I’m not including any of the following information to upset anyone or to speak ill of the victim. On the contrary, if the claims I’ve seen are true, there could be a lot more to this story authorities aren’t giving enough attention to.
Here’s why I’m saying this. Authorities included in their statements that the victim had alcohol in his system after the crash. In fact, they’re alleging that his blood-alcohol content was nearly 6 times the legal limit. Is that true? Because if it is, that amount of alcohol on its own can be lethal, car crash or not.
I had a wrongful death case against a bar not long ago, in fact, where a bar recklessly over-served someone, and it led to that person’s death. After leaving the bar, the driver somehow made it all the way home without hitting anyone or anything. But that’s as far as they made it. They didn’t even make it out of the car. They died right there in their driveway due to alcohol poisoning because some business broke the law and continued serving someone well beyond the point of reason despite knowing the danger of their actions.
To put this into perspective, the driver in that crash was just about four times the legal limit, and that was enough to lead to their death. Authorities here are alleging the victim was somehow 50% more intoxicated than that. Honestly, it makes me wonder if somehow these numbers are a mistake. Because if they aren’t, and authorities aren’t investigating this further to find out if there’s someone out there who contributed to this man’s death (even just to rule it out), they might be missing something crucial.
