David de la Torre Killed in Alleged Drunk Driver Accident in McAllen, TX

It appears that 26-year-old David de la Torre was the driver of a Chevy Cobalt that was traveling eastbound on the highway. It appears Torre came to a stop due to a red light at the Ware Road intersection. While at the light, police say that a Mazda CX-9 did not slow down in time, crashing into Torre and a Ford Fusion reportedly driven by Rene Javier Rodriguez.

As a result of the collision, Torre succumbed to fatal injuries. It’s unclear if Rodriguez was hurt. Police allege that the driver of the Mazda was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. They recommended potential charges for intoxication manslaughter, the status of which is unclear at this time. No further information can be confirmed.
