Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

With single-vehicle wrecks, there’s always a concern authorities might move on without actually getting the full story. They’re not often seen as a high priority, so officers aren’t always given the time or tools they need to do the job. For those complex situations involving things like tire failure, mechanical defects, road hazards, missing signage or lighting, faulty safety features, etc., details can easily slip through the cracks. It’s why single-vehicle wrecks make up a large portion of the calls I get from people dissatisfied with the answers they’re getting from the authorities. Perhaps officials here have been more thorough, but my experience says it’s best not to take that for granted.
