Lufkin, TX — July 30, 2023, Daryl Taylor was killed as the result of an alleged hit-and-run accident early Sunday along Abney Avenue.
Initial details about the fatal accident say that it happened at approximately 6:17 a.m., and authorities say they may have identified the runaway driver.
Authorities said that 46-year-old Daryl Taylor was on a bicycle traveling westbound along a stretch of Abney Avenue near Raguet Street. While biking along the road, authorities say that a vehicle was going at a high rate of speed and struck Taylor. Video evidence showed the vehicle to be a dark-colored SUV. That vehicle reportedly left the scene.
As a result of the collision, Taylor sustained fatal injuries. Authorities say they located a suspect vehicle and are investigating the alleged driver of that vehicle for potential charges. Those investigations are ongoing.
