Houston, TX — May 29, 2023, Darlin Velasquez Guerra was fatally injured following a car accident at around 1:50 a.m. along West Loop 610 South.
According to preliminary details released by Houston Police Department officials, the crash took place in the area of West Loop 610 South between Westheimer Road and Richmond Avenue.
Initial information indicates that a 27-year-old woman was in a vehicle going northbound on the loop. Harris County officials identified that woman as Darlin Velasquez Guerra. It appears that Velasquez Guerra stopped to check on someone that was stationary along main lanes due to a previous crash. While checking on that person, a vehicle described as a dark truck crashed into one of the stopped vehicles. They struck Velasquez Guerra in the process.
Velasquez Guerra ultimately succumbed to the injuries she sustained in the collision. It’s unclear if anyone else was hurt. Police say the dark truck left the scene of the accident and failed to stop and render aid. That driver has yet to be identified, and it appears authorities are seeking information that could help identify that driver.
