San Antonio, TX — May 29, 2023, Darion Hendrick-Escobedo was killed as the result of a wrong-way accident at around 1:15 a.m. on Highway 90.
According to preliminary information provided by Bexar County Sheriff’s Office representatives, the fatal crash took place in the area of Highway 90 and Highway 211 in the western part of the county.
Officials said in their initial statements that 22-year-old Darion Hendrick-Escobedo was driving a car along the highway at the time. It appears that a truck somehow got on the wrong side of the highway and began driving against traffic. Doing so, that truck crashed with Hendrick-Escobedo’s vehicle.
Reports say that Hendrick-Escobedo suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital. He later succumbed to those injuries. Three people from the truck, including two children, were also taken to the hospital.
Police allege that the wrong-way driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash. That driver is said to be facing multiple pending charges.
