Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
A concern that often goes overlooked after serious accidents is whether or not authorities were able to speak to those injured in the crash. If someone was seriously injured, they may not have been able to speak with authorities right away. Obviously, a prudent investigators would follow up later on, but authorities don’t always prioritize accident investigations.
As a result, I get calls from people all the time who feel authorities weren’t interested in getting their side of the story. It’s only reasonable, then, that they would want a second set of eyes looking things over. Sometimes, they confirm that police were able to piece things together through evidence. Other times, they may show that authorities were haphazard in their efforts, and there are gaps in the story that need to be filled in.
Either way, it’s important to at least ensure everyone involved in a crash is treated fairly and able to give their input. Did that ever happen here?
