Amarillo, TX — August 28, 2024, Cyrus Fields was killed and one other person was injured in a truck accident sometime in the afternoon on Loop 335.
According to authorities, 75-year-old Cyrus Fields was traveling in a northbound Ford F-150 pickup truck on State Loop 335 in the vicinity of Farmers Avenue when the accident took place.

The cause of the accident remains unclear. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the pickup truck failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It reportedly veered left of center and entered the southbound lanes of the roadway. There, it was involved in a head-on collision with an oncoming Kenworth 18-wheeler before exiting the roadway, altogether. It reportedly overturned and came to a stop resting in a roadside ditch on the east side of the road where it apparently caught on fire. The 18-wheeler came to a stop blocking both lanes of the roadway, according to reports.
Fields incurred fatal injuries over the course of the accident and was declared deceased at the scene. The person who had been behind the wheel of the 18-wheeler sustained injuries of unknown severity, as well. They were taken to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
