Harris County, TX — December 21, 2024, a Cypress woman sustained injuries due to a car accident that happened around 2:25 a.m. along F.M. 529.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident happened at the intersection of F.M. 529 and Greenhouse Road, northwest of Houston.
According to officials, a 29-year-old Cypress woman was in a Nissan Sentra traveling northbound. A Ford F-150 going westbound through the intersection reportedly disregarded the traffic control signal, and the two vehicles collided.
As a result of the collision, the Cypress woman sustained serious injuries. The other driver had no reported injuries. Authorities say that the Ford driver may have been drinking, but that has yet to be confirmed.

While it’s not clear right now if alcohol was a factor here, it would raise some pretty serious red flags. Some folks may not realize why that could make a crash like this so challenging. If a driver is already at fault, wouldn’t the confirmation of alcohol just mean more charges? Well, not necessarily. A lot of alcohol-related accidents end up involving an accomplice: a negligent alcohol provider.
Simply put, bars, restaurants, liquor stores, and other similar establishments who over-serve someone that is obviously intoxicated do so unlawfully. This exposes them to potential criminal investigations, fines, suspended licenses, or liability for the injuries resulting from the intoxication. Too often, though, these alcohol providers slip through the cracks. I’ve handled hundreds of cases against alcohol providers involved in serious accidents. They often only got attention because the victims and families felt that authorities weren’t getting the whole story, so they looked to other avenues to get the answers they deserved.
Perhaps authorities here have been more thorough since releasing these details. However, if there was still more to this story not getting the attention it needed, it would be far from the first time.
