Val Verde County, TX — April 19, 2024, Cynthia Vasquez and five others were injured in a multi-car accident shortly after 4:15 p.m. on Veterans Boulevard.

According to authorities, 60-year-old Cynthia Vasquez was stopped in traffic in a Mazda at a stop light heading southbound on Veterans Boulevard at the Gibbs Street intersection when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a southbound Chevy Silverado pickup truck failed to stop for the traffic; it reportedly barreled into nine other cars which were stopped at the light: A Chevy Equinox, a Nissan Kicks, a Hyundai Santa Fe, a Mazda, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, a Nissan Rogue, a Ford Ranger, a Kia Seltos, and a Nissan Altima.

Vasquez and two people from the Equinox—a 36-year-old woman and a 5-year-old boy—suffered reportedly severe injuries as a result of the wreck. Three people from the Rogue—a 42-year-old woman, an 11-year-old girl, and an 8-year-old girl—all sustained moderate injuries, as well. No other injuries have been reported.
