Dallas, TX — June 2, 2024, Curtis Banks and two others were injured following an alleged drunk driver accident at around 3:13 a.m. on I-45.
Investigators said in preliminary statements that the accident took place on southbound lanes of the interstate near Lindfield Road.

According to officials, 35-year-old Curtis Banks was a passenger in a GMC Yukon along with a 29-year-old Forney woman. They were going along I-45 in the middle lane when investigators say a Lexus crashed into them from behind at an unsafe speed. Due to the collision, both drivers involved had serious injuries. Banks had injuries described as moderate.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Right now, authorities allege that the Lexus driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. If that’s true, where did the alcohol come from? My concern is investigations from authorities are often too narrow in scope. They focus all their efforts on a drunk driver (understandably so), but meanwhile some bar, restaurant, liquor store, or other establishment is let off the hook to continue recklessly over-serving people.
Simply put, everyone of the hundreds of negligent alcohol providers I’ve had cases against cleaned up their act once they actually faced consequences. Not only is this a possibility worth looking into for the sake of seeing wrongdoers held accountable, it’s also a path to making our communities safer. That’s why I have to wonder if authorities are letting anything important slip through the cracks here and if any steps are being taken to pick up the slack.
