If the allegations here are true, then things may seem pretty open-and-shut. Many accidents like this, however, are anything but. This is because anytime alcohol leads to a crash, there’s a good chance a local alcohol provider is responsible for contributing to the accident, as well. When they illegally over-serve someone who is obviously intoxicated, they can face fines, license suspensions, criminal investigations, and potentially liability if it leads to people getting hurt.

Too often, though, this goes overlooked. I’ve handled hundreds of cases against negligent alcohol providers. Unfortunately, it’s not common to see authorities looking into this possibility on their own. Oftentimes, we’re the ones conducting independent investigations and putting negligent alcohol providers on the authorities’ radar. A lot of other providers end up being let off the hook because no one bothered to look for them. That’s why I have to wonder what steps are being taken to investigate this accident. Are authorities being thorough to consider all contributing factors, or is there more to this story?
