Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

People often overlook accidents like this since they think OSHA and workers’ comp just cover everything, and that’s that. Well, for one, OSHA has their own priorities, and they rarely align with immediately needs of a worker and a family affected by an accident like this.

Secondly, though, Texas has the most complex work accident laws of any other state in the country, and workers’ comp isn’t always an automatic solution. If victims and families aren’t sure of what path forward lies ahead for them, they can easily find themselves in the middle of a legal maze that takes significant evidence and legal strategy to navigate.

That’s why instead of waiting around for an automatic solution that may never come, it’s more helpful for workers and families to learn about their rights and what possible legal avenues best suit their situation.
