One of the main challenges with single-vehicle wrecks like this is authorities don’t always see them as a high priority. In my experience, professional accident reconstructionists will cover all kinds of possible factors.
Did the vehicle have any defects? Was there an issue with signage or lighting at the intersection? Are there any nearby cameras that caught the crash on video? Does this sort of accident happen a lot at this intersection? Even if something seems unlikely, it’s important to be thorough. But if authorities just feel they have other priorities to move on to, they may miss something important in their haste.
That’s why it’s important for victims and families to gauge the kind of answers authorities give them. If all of their questions and concerns are addressed, that’s good. If there are too many gaps in the story, though, there may need to be more thorough independent investigations.
