Rice County, KS — June 26, 2023, Christopher L. Detmer was injured in a collision with a tractor-trailer around 8:05 a.m. on Hwy. 56 in Rice County.
Sources report Mr. Detmer was westbound on the highway when his motorcycle allegedly collided with the back of an International semi-truck. Investigators say the semi-truck was slowing down to attempt a turn onto 11th Rd. when the wreck occurred.
The motorcyclist was reportedly ejected from the bike before both he and the bike came to rest in a ditch on the north side of the road.
Mr. Detmer was purportedly taken to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. No other injuries were reported.
Investigators have not released what factors led up to the accident.
