Hopefully authorities will release more information they may have about what happened here or are otherwise working to get more information. A lot of times, if they’re having trouble finding a runaway driver, someone in the community may be able to connect the dots and help lead them to a suspect. Once that happens, they can find out why the driver left the scene. That can be a lot more significant than people may realize.

This early in the morning, for example, a lot of runaway drivers are trying to hide that they’re intoxicated. This could potentially lead to an investigation into an alcohol provider, since bars can be liable if they over-serve someone, and it leads to them getting themselves or someone else hurt. What people sometimes write off as a reckless individual can be a whole complex series of events needing special attention and extensive investigations.

Maybe nothing like that happened here, but it’s important that serious accidents like this are taken seriously.
