Single-vehicle wrecks can be particularly challenging, as there are sometimes very few eye witnesses to help inform police of what happened. And with the victim not able to tell their side of the story, it comes down to whether or not authorities will have the tools, time, and experience to consider all possible contributing factors and get clear evidence. This requires asking complex questions which one doesn’t often see from official investigations.
For example, these initial details mention the victim’s vehicle hitting a guardrail. I can’t say how that happened here, but I rarely see guardrails get a thorough inspection after a crash. This can be crucial, as recent years have shown many guardrails across the country are actually defective. It can lead to situations where a guardrail should warp and deflect away from the inside of vehicle, but it instead pierces through the passenger area of the car. This can make otherwise minor or moderate crashes turn deadly.
Again, that may not have anything to do with what happened here. But many times when I look into a police investigation, I’ll check to see if they bothered considering these kinds of unusual factors. If they didn’t, it sometimes means there are all kinds of other important details they’ve overlooked. That’s when it may be time to consider having a second set of eyes look things over to ensure nothing important slipped through the cracks.
