How Did This Accident Occur?
Right now, there are still more questions than answers, so the last thing anyone should do is try to jump to conclusions. But just waiting around for answers isn’t always effective, either. What’s important is for families to know who is asking the questions and what questions they’re asking. Let me explain what I mean by this.
I’ve handled hundreds of commercial vehicle accident cases. Some of the most challenging ones happen out in these rural areas where authorities don’t always have access to a lot of personnel or state-of-the-art equipment. This means complex possible factors, such as vehicle defects or roadway issues, can easily slip through the cracks. That information can be salvaged if experienced independent investigators step in early to pick up the slack. However, since a lot of folks assume authorities have things under control, that might not happen until a significant amount of evidence has deteriorated or outright disappeared.
To be clear, authorities may be handling this crash with the care and attention it needs. That’s why my solution is never to simply write off police efforts. Instead, families tend to have the best outcomes when they follow up with authorities early on. If authorities can address all of their concerns and questions, that’s generally a sign they’re taking the investigations seriously. But if authorities aren’t able to come up with satisfying answers, that could be a sign that the crash needs to be in the hands of independent accident reconstructionists.
In the meantime, did anyone witness this crash or pass by the scene afterward? Let me know if the news left out anything important.
