Corinth, TX — September 14, 2024, 62-year-old Charles Olson was killed in a traffic accident on Teasley Lane in Denton County.
Preliminary reports suggest the incident happened around 8:15 p.m. on the 1400 block of Teasley Lane at Oakmont Drive. According to investigators, a 16-year-old girl driving a Jeep Wrangler stopped on southbound Oakmont at the Teasley intersection. One thing to keep in mind about traffic accidents is they are rarely as simple as a few paragraphs in reports make them sound. People may read preliminary details and think a crash seems pretty open-and-shut, but prudent investigators will keep digging and make sure they know the whole story. That often means asking questions until there are no more answers to discover, and keeping an open mind until all the facts are found.
In the Corinth situation, for example, witnesses reportedly mentioned to police that the motorcycle’s headlamp may not have been on at the time of the crash. If that’s true, will anyone investigate why not? Was it a simple oversight on the rider’s part, or something else? Did the bulb blow out? Was there a wiring issue? How hard was the motorcycle to see if its headlamp was off as suggested? Did other people successfully avoid it on the road?
I’m not pointing any fingers, just emphasizing the importance of careful and thorough investigation. Whatever the final determination may be about this accident, the victim’s loved ones deserve to know that every effort was made to bring them the truth. I hope authorities can deliver that peace of mind.
