Dallas, TX — March 24, 2024, Charles Leija Camacho was injured following a car accident at around 11:15 p.m. on South Edgefield Avenue.
According to details from authorities, the crash took place off the corner of the Edgefield Avenue and West 12th Street intersection.

Investigators said in their statements that 21-year-old Charles Leija Camacho was in a Ford F-150 going northbound along Edgefield. For reasons not confirmed right now, the vehicle somehow ran off-road. There, it hit a school zone signal pole before hitting an unoccupied Volkswagen. The Volkswagen in turn hit a Mazda 6, also unoccupied. Camacho was seriously injured due to the crash.

A significant challenge in a lot of crashes like the one described here is simply ensuring investigators are getting the whole story. When the only person reportedly involved in the crash was seriously injured, they might be taken to a hospital before officers are able to speak to them. If officers don’t follow up and also conduct a thorough accident reconstruction to let the evidence speak for itself, they may simply fall back to their gut instinct.
That’s how a lot of families end up with inaccurate or incomplete reports. If there aren’t safety nets in place to catch what authorities let slip through the cracks, it could simply be lost. Maybe authorities here were more thorough, but that’s not something I’d ever take for granted.
