Authorities indicate that on July 11, a collision occurred when, for unknown reasons, a tractor-trailer left the roadway and was hit by another vehicle when it attempted to get back onto Interstate 40. Sources say the accident happened shortly before 5:00 p.m. in Roane County.
According to reports, the tractor-trailer was heading east on I-40 when the crash occurred. A preliminary investigation found that the tractor also hit a barrier on the interstate shortly after reentering.
Investigators have not determined what caused the accident but confirmed the driver of the tractor-trailer, 37-year-old Charles Dwight Isabell, sustained fatal injuries in the collision.
