Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

Considering there isn’t any clear information available here, it would be irresponsible for anyone to jump to conclusions. I know that sounds obvious to say, but it might surprise people to see how often folks immediately assume motorcyclists are at fault in these situations.

There’s a common negative bias against riders as people tend to see them all as reckless daredevils. I know from experience just how safe they can be. In fact, I’ve found riders to generally be safer than the average motorist. They have to be, considering how often people fail to keep a proper lookout and cut them off.

Whether or not that happened here, I can’t say. But it’s important that people reserve their judgments and simply let the evidence speak for itself. If nothing else, the victim’s loved ones should only have to worry about getting the answers they deserve.
