UPDATE (June 14, 2023): Authorities confirm that the allegedly drunk driver involved in the death of Chaquon Jeffery will be charged for Manslaughter and Aggravated Assault. Further information is pending continued investigations.
Wichita Falls, TX — June 3, 2023, Chaquon Jeffery was killed and Veronica Diaz and another were hurt following a possible drunk driving accident on Spur 325.
Investigators reported that the incident took place along northbound lanes of Spur 325 near Airport Drive at approximately 12:14 a.m.
Details right now suggest that 25-year-old Chaquon Jeffery and 25-year-old Veronica Diaz were in a Chevy Malibu that was going northbound along the highway. It appears there was a Honda Ridgeline that was going the wrong direction on northbound lanes. As a result, it collided with the Malibu.
Due to the collision, Jeffery sustained ultimately fatal injuries. Diaz and the driver of the Honda both reportedly had injuries and were taken to area hospitals. No others were said to be hurt.
Right now, authorities said that “alcohol is suspected,” but they have not yet confirmed anything further. Investigations are ongoing.
