Kansas City, MO — June 20, 2023, at least three people were injured following a cement truck accident at around 5:46 a.m. along I-670.

According to initial details about the crash released by authorities, it happened on the southbound lanes of I-35 at the I-670 interchange along Broadway.

Three Injured in Cement Truck Accident on I-670 in Kansas City, MO

Kansas City Police Department officials say that the incident happened as a Hyundai reportedly stolen went up an entrance ramp onto southbound lanes of the interstate. Doing so, it somehow crashed with a box truck and a cement truck. This collision led to the cement truck running off the side of the entrance ramp and down an embankment. The truck then crashed into a tree and caught fire.

Several other vehicles were also involved in the chain-reaction collision. Details at this time show that the cement truck driver, the driver of a Dodge Durango, and the driver of a Honda were taken to the hospital. The cement truck driver reportedly had serious injuries while the others had apparently minor injuries.

Police believe that the driver of the Hyundai fled the scene of the accident on foot. They have not identified any suspects publicly. Right now, no further information is available pending continued investigations.
