Orange County, TX — April 27, 2024, Catherine Briant and one other person were injured in a car accident shortly before 4:00 p.m. along North Main Street.
According to authorities, 59-year-old Catherine Briant was traveling in a southbound Chevy Colorado pickup truck on North Main Street in the vicinity south of the Smith Lake Road intersection when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a northbound Kia SUV on Main Street occupied by a 64-year-old man attempted a U-turn in order to head south at an apparently unsafe time, failing to yield the right of way to oncoming southbound traffic. This resulted in a collision between the front-right side of the Kia and the front-end of the pickup truck.
Both Briant and the man from the Kia incurred suspected severe injuries as a result of the wreck. They were each transported to local medical facilities by emergency medical services in order to receive necessary treatment.
