Randall County, TX — April 18, 2024, Caroline Vasquez was injured due to a single-vehicle car accident at around 3:50 a.m. along Upton Road.
According to officials, the crash took place at the intersection of Upton Road and F.M. 2590 south of Amarillo.
Investigators said that 26-year-old Caroline Vasquez was in a Chrysler 300 traveling westbound on Upton. At the F.M. 2590 T-intersection, details say that the Chrysler continued straight and ran off-road, crashing through the ditch.

People may see a vehicle go through a T-intersection and just assume whatever went wrong must have been the driver’s fault. But these preliminary investigations rarely tell the whole story. Authorities aren’t always able to rule out other, less common possible factors without help from independent accident reconstructionists.
For example, unexpected brake failure could cause a crash like this. That’s something that requires a lot of experience and training to catch, not to mention state-of-the-art equipment. Officers rarely have access to that stuff, so something that complex can easily slip through the cracks. Maybe nothing unusual like that happened here. But if authorities aren’t able to definitively conclude what did and didn’t happen, they might be missing something important.
