El Paso, TX — May 23, 2024, Carlos Zapata and one other person were injured in a motorcycle versus car accident at about 7:15 a.m. along Texas Avenue.
According to authorities, 21-year-old Carlos Zapata was traveling on a westbound Kawasaki motorcycle on Texas Avenue in the vicinity east of Brown Street when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a Honda Pilot occupied by a 34-year-old woman heading eastbound on Texas Avenue attempted a U-turn in order to go westbound at an apparently unsafe time, failing to yield the right of way to roadway traffic. This resulted in a collision between the two vehicles.
Zapata suffered reportedly serious injuries as a result of the wreck; he was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. The woman from the Honda sustained moderate injuries, as well, according to reports. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
