Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

Details suggest the Chrysler driver fled the scene on foot, which presumably means authorities took possession of the abandoned car. With it in their possession, were they able to identify the driver? With the exception of stolen vehicles, it’s usually just a matter of time before they can track down a runaway driver who left behind their vehicle or the vehicle of someone who knows the suspect. Hopefully that’s what happened here so authorities can both hold that person accountable and find out why they ran, as it’s usually due to something like warrants, drugs, or drunk driving. It remains to be seen, though, whether or not investigations have made that kind of progress.
