Odessa, TX — April 20, 2024, Carla Mendez was killed following a single-car accident just before 6:00 a.m. along East 42nd Street.
According to authorities, 21-year-old Carla Mendez was traveling in a westbound Honda Civic along East 42nd Street in the vicinity of the Tanglewood Lane intersection when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the Honda failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It reportedly swerved off of the side of the road, coming to a stop after crashing into a power pole.
Mendez incurred suspected critical injuries as a result of the wreck; she was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. However, she was ultimately unable to overcome the severity of her injuries, having later been declared deceased.
