Accident Report
March 22, 2026, three people were injured due to a car accident shortly before 2:15 p.m. along U.S. Highway 77.
According to authorities, two people—a 69-year-old man and a 67-year-old woman—were traveling in a northbound Ford F-350 pickup truck on U.S. Highway 77 at the Farm to Market 1118 intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, an eastbound Toyota Tundra pickup truck occupied by a 65-year-old man attempted a left turn to head south on the highway without yielding to roadway traffic. A collision consequently occurred between the Ford and the Toyota.
The 69-year-old man from the Ford reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. The woman who had been with him in the Ford and the man who had been behind the wheel of the Toyota suffered minor injuries, as well, according to reports. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identities of the victims—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Most people will look at this accident and assume it to be a cut-and-dried case of driver error, since the Tundra apparently failed to yield as it turned. Statistically speaking, that’s a safe bet, since human error plays a role in the majority of car accidents. However, I’ve analyzed thousands of car accidents over the last three decades. I’ve learned that car wrecks can be more layered than they initially appear, so I’m slow to jump to conclusions. I’m interested to see what the authorities unearth in their investigation.
You might be wondering what could possibly have been at play other than driver error? Well, what if, hypothetically, the Tundra was suffering from a mechanical malfunction—like a steering column problem or brake failure—and that was why the vehicle entered the intersection at an unsafe time? While I do admit it is less likely, it’s certainly still within the realm of posiblities.
Hopefully the authorities get an in-depth vehicle inspection done on the Tundra in order to either rule out or bring to light any mechanical malfunctions or even product defects that might otherwise fly under the radar. If, for whatever reason, they fail to take that step, then a third party investigation can always to so, instead, just to make sure all the bases are covered. After all, the people affected by this accident deserve to have a detailed picture of what happened and why, not just vague assumptions based on surface-level investigation.
