Accident Report
January 18, 2026, a woman was injured as the result of a car accident at around 12:32 a.m. along US Highway 67.
According to officials, a 26-year-old woman was in a Kia traveling southwest along the highway. A Ford F-150 was going the same direction when that driver reportedly failed to control speed. As a result, it crashed with the Kia and a Chrysler 300.
Due to the accident, the woman driving the Kia was seriously injured. No other injuries were reported. At this time, additional details are unavailable.
How Did This Accident Occur?
If someone fails to control speed on a highway, there are usually some common factors to consider: distracted driving, unsafe speeds, and following too closely. Maybe something like that happened here. Just after midnight on a Sunday, however, it would be irresponsible not to also consider alcohol as a possible factor.
Saturday night is when a lot of people go out for a good time, and unfortunately many decide to get behind the wheel drunk. Also, a lot of those bars, restaurants, and other venues recklessly and unlawfully over-serve many of those drivers, putting them in a position to cause harm. It’s possible that other facts led to this crash, but I would be suspicious of any investigation into a crash like this that didn’t at least rule out alcohol. That would be a serious oversight, and it would raise questions about what else may be slipping through the cracks.
