At this time, authorities mention alcohol as a possible factor. Keeping in mind that it’s only a theory unless evidence shows otherwise, it’s still cause for concern in more ways than one. For example, where did that alcohol come from? People tend to think alcohol-related accidents begin and end at the crash scene. In reality, though, there’s often a negligent alcohol provider responsible for contributing to the victims’ injuries.

This is due to Texas law saying alcohol providers aren’t allowed to over-serve someone who is obviously intoxicated. Doing so exposes those establishments to potential criminal investigations, fines, license suspensions, and liability for the resulting injuries. Too often, though, those negligent bars slip through the cracks because authorities are more focused on the immediate crash scene. It’s possible, then, that independent investigations here could show there’s more to this story those involved in the crash need to know about.
