Hardin County, TX — February 16, 2024, two people were injured in a car versus train accident at approximately 5:30 a.m. along East G Street.

According to authorities, a 24-year-old man was traveling in an eastbound Dodge Ram 3500 pickup truck on East G Street approaching a railroad crossing in the vicinity east of Second Street when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that there are no crossing guards or lights at the railroad crossing, only white railroad crossing signs. The pickup truck reportedly attempted to cross the tracks at an unsafe time and was struck by a southbound train. The 24-year-old from the pickup truck incurred suspected severe injuries as a result of the accident, while a 44-year-old man from the train suffered apparently minor injuries. Both victims were transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment.
